Pullman - Barista "BigStep" Tamper

Originating from discussions with 20 year industry veteran and champion barista, Adam Metelmann, the BigStep base was born out of his desire for a base with the highest possible usable tolerance in size for competition baskets. The result - the first big base tamper, proudly made in Australia for you. 

The BigStep refers to the design of the larger diameter 'stepped edge' of the base, measuring in a 58.55mm (+/- 0.02mm) This base enables a maximum surface area of coffee to be covered during tamping, including the prevention of a pinched edge of coffee particles or vacuum effect that can occur when using such a large (or incorrectly) sized base. 

For Pullman's Barista Tamper devotees, the BigStep retains the feel of a regular barista tamper with the adjustable height handle suitable for all palm sizes and grips. With the soft compression zone to cushion the force of your tamp and protect your fingers, you'll appreciate the luxury this tamper offers. 

This design can be used with all variations of dose weights (low dose/high yield or high dose/low yield), producing incredible extraction ad mouthfeel, getting the most out of your coffee beans.
